This is a little golden nugget in Cripple Creek. The restaurant is named for the ghost that haunts the building. I guess it doesn't help that the site was the mortuary in the late 1800's. Don't let all that scare you off. The food and service is good .Although it is in a casino you don't hear the noise of the slots. I know I will go back and will recommend it to others.

Great service and good food! Would definitely return! We had a party of seven and ate a variety of items. Everyone enjoyed their food and no one had any complaints!

Based on a local's recommendation, I visited Maggie's for lunch when in Cripple Creek. I ordered the fried shrimp plate, which came with the standard fries and slaw. The fries and slaw were passable, nothing special. I was really interested in the shrimp. They looked great, but were a huge disappointment. Mostly breading and though there was something inside that was probably a shrimp, who knows? There was no shrimp taste, just a blob of something. If you can't do something well, why bother?

Incredible hamburgers! 1/2 pound of pure delicious! So good I didn't want to ruin the flavor by using ketchup or mustard. Would drive there just to eat another burger!

Great Food, Great Service. My wife and family eat there whenever we are in the area and have never been disappointed. For families with children perfect venue as it is not in a casino.

The first impression was the hostess telling me in detail all the tables waiting before my family. Then she asked how many in my party. After my reply she said, "You guys are killing me with these 5 tops!" My bad... It didn't seem like we could give our drink order fast enough. Our request of a Vodka Tonic was replied with a funny look. The waitress said, "If you tell me what's in it, I think I could mix it." It was a nice response but I think the name speaks for itself. We ordered food and it didn't take too long to come out. For the most part it was average and bland. Nothing stood out and made me want to come back. When we stopped in the Chamber of Commerce and mentioned where we had eaten only a few blocks away, they had never heard of the place. Just saying...

We stayed in Cripple Creek on Labor Day weekend and popped into Maggies for a late lunch. Shiyla (sp?) sat us and we asked to be in the corner since the restaurant was fairly empty. She made some inaudible excuse that each server had sections but if we really wanted to we could sit there. I used to wait tables, so I get it, but not when the restaurant has several tables open.... So we sat in the middle of the restaurant instead. I'm glad we ended up sitting there because our server, Bonnie, was great. She was very attentive and courteous and provided excellent service. we shared a turkey sandwhiches, which was decent, but overall the service was lacking. I overheard another server (Jessica) arguing with a customer about what she ordered when it came out wrong. I will try a different restaurant next time we are in the area. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Something about Cripple Creek's downtown doesn't exactly scream "gourmet experience". The old mining town is known primarily for its casinos and, unless you're in a really luxe casino, food is more or less an afterthought. Maggie's is a sit-down, diner-ish restaurant offering a limited menu. Not that choice really matters: you're pretty much guaranteed to get a lousy meal no matter what you order. My sandwich was some sort of vegetable grill, with fresh-from-the-freezer mixed veggies seemingly microwaved, dumped onto a roll, topped with supermarket cheese, and rolled through a broiler. It reminded me of high school cafeteria cuisine. If you're hard up for food in Cripple Creek, I'd imagine you could do worse. But this is like the choice between a Dennys and a bowling alley's snack bar.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly service, good music. We will definitely be back. Our group had the pot roast, chicken fried steak & eggs, and the BLT. We were all pleased with the portion sizes and great taste. Overall, great experience!

Cripple Creek doesn't haven't much in the way of sit down dining, especially for families, unless you want to drag your kids through levels of casinos and rowdy bars. Even then, many of the casino's restaurant only allow 21+ guests (like the Mid City Grill at Century Casino) We have come to like Maggie's, not for the spectacular cuisine, but for it's easy access (separate street entrance so we don't have to walk through the casinos), quick seating (have never had to wait), quick service and friendly wait staff. On my visits, I've had the Veggie Flatbread and the Blackened Grouper Sandwich. I really enjoyed both and would probably order again. My husband has tried the appetizer Hot Wings (which he found delicious and spicy) and the Cajun Salmon Salad (which was his all time favorite thing he's eaten, I swear. He couldn't stop raving.) Portions are large and reasonably priced. They don't have a separate kids menu but our four year old daughter has always found something she likes. Our waitress was even kind enough to suggest a grilled cheese for her (not listed on the menu). The atmosphere is nice and feels more upscale than what you'd expect. Noise level is quiet. We always enjoy our visits there and will continue to dine at Maggie's! PS this might sound weird, but I always find their fountain soda to be exceptionally good. Not your usual watery, flat Pepsi products. So there's that.

I have written over 100 reviews on another site but think YELP might get more play so I am writing these for that reason. I love Maggies. I do not gamble but got lucky by finding Maggies on my first trip to Cripple Creek. You need to get off main street to find them because they are in the bottom of a casino. They are on the left side and down a steep hill when you are coming into town from Colorado Springs. It is quiet down there which I love. I hate having to listen to the dinging and bells that emit around most casino restaurants. I ate here about 2 weeks ago and had a Chili Cheeseburger and it was very unusual in that the chili was like a verde green sauce you would put on a burrito. I only ate 1/2 and microwaved the second 1/2 the next day and ate it. It was wonderful. The fries were the large kind. I get the ham & egg breakfast usually. The home fries are fantastic. Everything comes out piping hot and cooked exactly as ordered. The ham takes up at least 1/2 of a large platter. Look, I like vinegar or lemon juice on my potatoes and eggs breakfast and I know that is unusual but that is how my Mom liked them. Most of the time, waitpeople look at me kinda funny when I ask for vinegar with my breakfast. Not so with the waitress at Maggies...she just said, "sure" and brought it to me. The service has always been excellent. They even bring you an extra glass of ice water when you get water. I honestly wish I could say something bad about Maggies to get you to believe me but I would be stuck making something up. Check out the Thin Air Theatre Group at The Butte Theater in Cripple Creek.

Located in the around-the-corner lower floor of the Colorado Grande Casino (believe me, it isn't), Maggie's is an all-around "must-avoid." The menu is limited, service slow and distracted, price-for-value high and quality low enough to trigger a rare case of abdominal distress. The dining room itself is attractive, and the wait staff was civil. Cripple Creek combines a genuine Colorado gold mining (still very active) vibe with Victorian era architecture and casino gambling. It is a fun little town for a few hours. Maggie's, however, won't be a stop that I'd care to make again.

I was impressed with Maggie's. I dragged my parents to Cripple Creek for an afternoon and selected this restaurant based on word of mouth. I had the veggie grill with melted provolone. I have to say, I wasn't expecting it to be so tasty or on a fresh ciabatta roll that was delish. Spinach, onions, some tomatoes- it was great. My mom had a hamburger with fresh fries. The bun was also homemade, as was the burger, which was huge. They said half a pound, but it looked closer to a pound. My dad had the special of roast beef with au jus. Also good for him. My parents are quite the connoisseurs of meat so to have my mother's only complaint to be that it was more than medium, on the side of well-done was pretty amazing. (She is a VERY picky eater) We did have to wait a while, maybe 15 minutes but after receiving the food, it was understood why- all fresh. And it was hot! I don't really understand the price thing other reviewers have mentioned. My sandwich and my parents' sandwiches were all $7.95, which is pretty normal in Denver for pricing and the portions were huge. The atmosphere is a little dark, because it is in a basement. I'd eat here again, which is saying something as I am a vegetarian and this place caters to a meat-eating crowd.

Nothing wrong with Maggie's for a decently priced meal while in The Creek.

going into cripple creek for the night, we didn't realize we we're entering into a coal mining mini vegas. that said, you make the best of what you've got. we stayed across the street at the imperial and after taking one peek at their overpriced and limited menu, we dashed out to see if we could find something with a little more variety and a lower price tag. we stumbled into maggies. the interior was nice, especially considering it's in the basement of some old timey casino. it had clearly been remodeled some time ago, but seemed well kept. our host brought our drink orders and our server was over shortly after. i decided to go with the reuben and onion rings (usually a safe bet) and my mans decided on the cheese tortellini. i'm not sure why he was expecting anything other than frozen, but i think he was slightly disappointed. in his defense, the sauce was rather bland (a butter base with parmasean). my reuben was satisfactory, but lacking in the hefty serving of kraut that i've come to expect. the onion rings were pretty damn good though. the price was right, the service was spot on and i'm sure it was a hell of a lot better than what we'd have gotten across the street.

We came into Maggie's craving the half-pound burgers on their menu. It's an attractive dining room in a historic hotel with friendly staff. The burgers could have been perfect... they came with a fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickle, and a toasted bun and decent fries. But for some inexplicable reason they did not grill the burger patties to order. Clearly it had been cooked earlier and kept warm in a pan. Mandatory two-star maximum score for reheats.

So, my boyfriend and I visited Maggie's on a Friday night. I had read some reviews on other websites that touted this place as being one of the better in the area and someone mentioned that it was one of the few restaurants in Cripple Creek that wasn't actually in a casino. WRONG. The decor was nice, but this place was really quiet and probably for good reason. The prices are pretty high, which you sort of expect in a mountain town but for the quality of the meal they should have been significantly lower. The food was okay... our service was pretty bad. Our waiter seemed to be avoiding our table for most of our dinner and actually didn't even write down my boyfriends order. So my food came out and we had to wait another 20 minutes before he got his. I would have been willing to overlook the high prices had the service been decent, but given there were very few patrons in the place and it still took forever to get our food I cannot. Our waiter did offer to make up for the not putting my boyfriend's food order in with a free dessert but at that point we had already wasted an HOUR and a HALF waiting for what little we had asked for and decided against it since we did actually want to try to see a little bit of Cripple Creek before midnight. I think that just about the only thing this place has going for it is menu variety. I would not go back.

We live near Cripple Creek and have eaten here a few times. It has gone down-hill and I don't expect to try it again. Service is not attentive and meals don't all come out together. Food often is tasteless (pasta dishes) and it is pricey for what you get. Eating out should be more than just filling an empty stomach and Maggie's doesn't offer anything above and beyond just filling you up. You can do that at home with a loaf of bread and butter.
